D-Fa Dogs Ice-Barker

Merino is one of nature’s greatest gifts, endowed with remarkable properties by Mother Nature and the Merino sheep’s need to adapt to the extreme conditions of New Zealand’s high-altitude environments.

D-fa's Merino fibre is warm, lighter than traditional wools, soft, easy to wear and care for, and its natural odour-suppressing qualities are legendary. Best of all the fibres in the fabric lock in warm air to insulate against cold, and release the warmer air as activity or conditions change to keep the body temperature at a constant, comfortable warmth.  The felted Merino used in our dog jackets also has a moderate level of wind and water resistance.

Natural Merino is a fabulous alternative to synthetic insulation such as fleece products that can become scratchy and smelly over time and may not breathe or warm as well when conditions change.

The Ice-Barker® is perfect for senior, thin-skinned or fine coated dogs, if the jacket is to be worn for long periods of time or in variable conditions.

All merino used in the Ice-Barker is grown in the high country stations of New Zealand. No heavy metal dyes are used in the milling of our fabrics and all farms upon which the wool is grown are monitored for the sustainability of their farming and care of their stock. The Ice-Barker is proudly made of and in New Zealand.

Each dog is unique, like a little furry snowflake so finding the right fit is part art, part science. The design of D-fa gear allows for different shapes through adjustments that accommodate broad shoulders and deep chests.

We find the breed reference is the best reference point to start from. Choose a doggy-style to match the physique of your dog. Confirm your size using:
  • First, the spine measurement
  • Second, the body weight measurement
If your dog is on the border of two sizes then consider this:
  • If thick set or portly, choose the larger of the two sizes
  • If narrow or athletic, choose the smaller of the two sizes
  • Do not drop below the spine measurement given

Please note when choosing a jacket in this style that the larger sizes are slightly more expensive. This is because there is significantly more fabric in these jackets, and in the case of these styles the fabric is the greatest cost. We apologise to all big dog owners, but we know you'll agree that the big love you get from a big dog is well worth the extra.

Stretchy versus Steady Fabric
This jacket is made from a soft, light, stretchy fabric. That means that it will give and take with movement during activity and play; and will fit neatly around your dog’s body giving them curves in all the right places and maximising their freedom of movement in the jacket. Paws up to that!
