Abandoned in a motel at three weeks of age, Maty survived exposure to parvovirus and had her rear leg was amputated at 8 weeks of age (due to a staph infection that was originally misdiagnosed as a break by a veterinarian). Maty is an inspiration to people and animals. She demonstrates the abilities of disabled animals living a ?normal? life in Central Oregon by going to dog parks, walking in town, greets Humane Society volunteers everyday and enters fun and athletic dog competitions. Her super-normal abilities have made her the first three-legged dog to compete in a world class disc dog championship. With the help of athletic human parther Troy Kerstetter and Maty's Humane Society work partner, Lynne Ouchida, Maty gives back to the community that saved her life by being a humane education and canine ambassador for the Humane Society of Central Oregon. Her life was saved by a caring community that includes the Humane Society of Central Oregon, volunteers, veterinarians and a nursing home.
